External Cephalic Version

We had our consult with Dr. Hunter yesterday and he gave us two options to consider:

Do nothing and schedule a C Section at 39 weeks.

Schedule the Version at 38 weeks to move the baby into a head down position.

We are planning to do the procedure next Thursday the 25^th.

The version is a hospital procedure where the doctor will attempt to externally move the baby from a breech to a head down position. There is very little risk to the baby, but it is very painful for mom and it could begin labor. It can be done with or without an epidural; however, it is more successful when done with an epidural. The procedure has about a 68% success rate and once the baby is turned there is only a 4% chance that she will become breech again.

We are now faced with the decision of what to do after attempting the version. Our best hope is that the procedure will be successful and that we can then deliver naturally around her October 8^th due date. If it is unsuccessful, she will be delivered by C Section following the version procedure. We have our next appointment on Monday where we will further discuss the procedure.

Breech Baby

We had our second weekly appointment with the midwife yesterday and learned that our baby has turned into a breech position. We are very bummed to find this out especially after last weeks appointment found that she had dropped into a head down position.

We meet with the doctor today to find out what options we have available.

We did get a couple of ultrasound pictures of her sucking her thumb. The dark spot on the upper right is her left eye.

Co-Ed Baby Shower August 17th

Daniel & Shirley were so gracious in throwing us a fabulous baby shower.














I wanted one baby shower game in particular: guessing the belly width and comparing her pregnant belly to Phil's belly. Phil's was bigger. :) He cheated by sucking in his tummy. Actually, everyone cut a length of ribbon to guess the size of my belly.













And the winner is...























I even had Emily helping with the gift unwrapping.

32 Weeks

We haven't been very diligent at posting pictures, but here's the tummy at 32 weeks. We will post previous pictures for comparison. By this time, the baby is moving often and getting bigger every day.








Danielle had to satisfy her craving for a Salish Lodge chocolate pot.

Sundance Out and About

We took Sundance sheep herding on August 2nd. We didn't any pictures of him actually herding as he was extremely excitable today. You can just make out my tummy at 30 weeks.

Our Nursery In-Progress

Our nursery is coming along...the walls and ceiling are finished!!! Now we (Phil) can work on the trim and accent colors and stenciling.

We had color matching issues with three of the colors, so it has taken a BIT longer than anticipated to finish painting.

Watch Our Family Grow

We are currently a family of 5, Phil, Danielle, Gorgie, Sheba (2 cats), and Sundance (our 17 month old puppy). In October, we will be 6, with the addition of our future baby girl. This is our second attempt for a baby, everything seems to be going very well. Please pray that it continues that way. We have several ultrasound pictures of the baby as well as photos of Danielle and her growing belly, and some family photos we'd like to share.

Right now, we are preparing the nursery, getting ready for childbirth classes, getting acquainted with baby gear, trying to baby-proof Sundance and enjoying the time while we wait to meet our daughter. We will be having a baby shower in August. Invitations will be going out soon . . . . stay tuned . . .
